You can, of course, make your own supermarket list manually. However, this program
will help you do it more easily, in any language. If your language is English or Portuguese,
you are supplied with an example list that you can change according to your needs. But
whatever your language, the program will sort all the supermarket sublists (10) for the
categories you define into alphabetical order.
Printing is done from the Firefox browser.
The buttons on the right more-or-less explain themselves.
However, here are a few notes on some of the buttons:
If your language is English or Portuguese, you can find an example list to load in the program's subfolder "lists".
Otherwise, you will need to build your own list and save it, optionally in the program's subfolder "lists", or in any other folder you prefer.
Clicking on this button will simply tell you what to do.
In fact, all you need to do is click on a category heading (e.g. "Cleaning") and you can then edit the list below it.
Click on the heading again to disable editing.
Be careful not to make any of your sublists too long, otherwise they can invade the sublist below when they are printed, or even print outside the limits of the
paper. If you are not sure how long (or even wide) a sublist can be, since the layout of the list page is not exactly WYSIWYG, just click on the "Print List"
button to display the draft of your list in a browser: then examine it in "Print Preview".
Probably, you will want each of your sublists to be sorted into alphabetic order. If so, just click on this button.
If not, do NOT click on this button, because then your newly·edited list will be in an order you do not want, and you will have to re·order it manually!
If you click on the "Edit Categories" button, this is what you will see:
The "categories" are the headings shown in red above.
If you want a standard set of categories in English (as shown above), choose the "Standard English" option.
If you want a similar set of categories in Portuguese, choose the "Standard Portuguese" option.
If you wish to re·define the set of headings offered for either English or Portuguese, then you can edit the files "standard_english_categories.txt" and
"standard_portuguese_categories.txt" that you will find respectively in the program folder.
However, if you wish to type in a completely new set of categories, or your language is not either English or Portuguese, choose the "Custom" option.
If you terminate editing by clicking on the "OK" button, your new categories will be automatically saved in the file "current_categories.txt" in the program folder.
You can back up this file if you wish by copying it to another location on your disk.
Clicking on "Cancel" will return the categories to their state before you clicked on the "Edit Categories" button.
Clicking on "OK" will save your changes and disable further editing of the categories.
This button will open a browser for you to print your supermarket list.
This is what it should look like if you navigate to the browser's "Print Preview":
